Former ABB remediation is complete: "We're waiting for the green light to build."

Excavations and preliminary works for the start of construction of the buildings in the former ABB area near the station
Following the completion of the remediation work, the green light is awaited for construction to begin on the over 34,000-square-meter site of the former ABB station between Viale Pavia and Via Fascetti. This vast area behind the station will be redeveloped, thanks to the approval of the Municipality, expected in a few weeks. A new residential complex will be built on this site, comprising eight eight-story buildings, for a total of over 280 apartments. "We are awaiting the issuance of the building permit ," explains surveyor Diego Bosis of Tecno Consulent, the contractor for the project. "With that, we can then begin construction. With the completion of the remediation, a process that lasted over three years, we received a resolution from the Province, following which we were able to submit a Scia (Certified Environmental Authorization) for the completion of the preparatory works for the construction site (the company was authorized to excavate, fence, install the crane, and provide the equipment and shelter necessary for the start of the work)." The crane now stands out, already positioned in the center of the clearing and visible for kilometers. Several vehicles have also been in operation for over two weeks, with which the construction company is attempting to reshape the area. This site once housed ABB, a company specializing in the production of high- and medium-voltage electrical transformers, which later relocated to San Grato following a trilateral agreement between the city administration, the bank, and the company. However, not all of the 34,000 square meters will be used for residential buildings.
"A portion of the lot will be dedicated to the creation of a park ," emphasizes Simone Piacentini, the city's Urban Planning Councilor, who also announced changes to the area's traffic flow. "The company has submitted a building permit for the first phase of compensatory works, usually called primary urbanization works ," he explains, "which will involve the redevelopment of Via Sant'Angelo and the roundabout that intersects Via Griffini and Viale Pavia, which will need to be widened to accommodate the new road that will bisect the lot." Via Fascetti will also undergo changes: the beginning of the road will serve to connect the two parks. "And consequently, Viale Pavia will also need to be made a two-lane road." The project is currently being reviewed by the city offices and could begin between the end of September and the beginning of October. This is a massive project, estimated at €8.5 million, with completion expected by 2028.
